As a
major component of its comprehensive pain management program,
The Health Centers offers physical therapy to assist patients
in returning to their normal activities. A natural reaction to
pain is to stop using that part of the body. Immediately, this
may be a good reaction in that it may help the body to heal. However
failure to use that part of the body for long periods of time
will lead to stiff joints and or weak muscles and ligaments. Physical
therapy helps patients to begin using those areas and thereby
regaining use of painful body parts again.
The Health Centers offer specialized physical therapy for patients
in pain ranging from acute and subacute injuries to pose operative
rehab to chronic pain. We offer daytime and evening appointments
for physical therapy with a full time physical therapist available
to direct and provide treatment. After a thorough evaluation,
a customized plan of care is written with the intent to maximize
a patient's healing potential. Specific protocols based on proven
methods for improvement are guidelines for plans of care. Our
office is a Certified Medicare Outpatient Facility. Medicare has
actually inspected our facility and certified our facility based
upon stringent Medicare guidelines.
Education for patients is always included in each component. Our
physical therapist offers exercise and advice for prevention that
can be used to enhance the patients activities of daily living.
Prevention of future injuries is a priority. Strategies for conducting
daily living activities are emphasized along with correct posture
and methods of lifting.
State of the art machines such as SpineMed,
hydro bed therapy and Anodyne treatment provide for quicker treatment
results and progress. The SpineMed is designed to relieve pressure
on structures that may be causing low back pain. It relieves the
pain associated with herniated discs, degenerative disc disease,
posterior facet syndrome and radicular pain. The hydro bed provides
heat and vibration after exercise/activity for relaxation. Anodyne
therapy uses infra red technology to promote the healing of diabetic
neuropathy and wounds. Many other treatment modalities are used
along with active physical therapy treatment to offer the best
possible recovery to our patient.
Physical therapy reduces the time needed for recovery and maximizes
the potential towards a fuller recovery. |
